Honduras SEBCAH Seminary Mission Trip 8/2006

Honduras SEBCAH Seminary Mission Trip 7/2005

“Seeing God’s hand at work around the world is a life-changing experience.” “Meeting people who serve God at great sacrifice makes us wonder why we would ever complain.” These are a just a few thoughts from the 15 people who were a part of the team who went to Seguatipeque, Honduras in July ’05. The team went for the purpose of remodeling and  expanding a vacant house on the campus of SEBCAH seminary that missionaries Tim and Donna Wright will move into upon completion. The house will give added revenue to the seminary as Tim and Donna pay rent each month. In addition to the construction project, the team was able to meet the two seminary students that our church supports, Onan and Olvidio. The group was even able to attend the church that Onan is pastoring and perform a puppet show for their children. The team worked hard and accomplished a lot on the house, but it is the blessing of building friendships with believers from other countries that will never be forgotten.

Honduras Mission Trip 2004

Moving "Arca De Noeh" (Noah’s Ark Church)

In July, 2004, we partnered with a small Honduran church to relocate their existing building.  They had lost their lease on the property and were forced to relocate near the seminary at Seguatipeque.  Rather than taking the building apart piece by piece one of our team members came up with the idea to cut the building into pieces, like a puzzle, and put it back together on the new location.  We were able to disassemble the building and move it to the location where it was reassembled by another team who came in after we returned to the US.  In addition, members of our group were assigned the job of pouring concrete to finish out a basketball/soccer court for use by the SEBCAH seminary students. All the members had a wonderful experience working alongside the Honduran church members to help them do what would otherwise have taken them weeks to accomplish.

Honduras Mission Trips 2000 - 2002

Between June of 2000 and July of 2002 our church sent four teams to Honduras.  These teams primarily worked in four areas:  Feeding brigades, Medical brigades, Children’s Ministry, and Construction projects for an orphanage and a children’s feeding center.  Our work took us to people who were still living in refugee camps from the hurricane which had devastated Honduras in 1999.

Four teams totaling over 125 people spent time working and representing Christ and His love with missionaries and the Honduran people.  We were privileged to work with a team of Christian Honduran doctors, interns and nurses taking medical care to some areas where the people had not seen a doctor for 15 years.  We had teams who did children’s ministry at the places where we distributed food packages as well as during the day while people waited to see the doctors.  Both of our pastors preached at various churches aided by local interpreters.  We helped in the construction of a foundation for a children’s feeding center in a very poor area outside the capital city of Tegucigalpa.  Another construction team worked on the building of an orphanage which today houses 25 children near the small village of Jalaca.   In 2002 we sent two teams, one in which we partnered with three other churches and helped build a “bodega” (secured storage house) for the orphanage site, bunk beds for the orphanage,  as well as continuing to work on the orphanage water system and general construction.  Members of this team also brought hand made blankets and baby supplies to a charity hospital where we met with new mothers, prayed with them and were greatly humbled by their poor circumstances and sweet spirits.  The pictures shared here are just a glimpse of how God used us during these four trips to Honduras.

Teen Missions

In the summer of 2005, three teens from Grace Community Bible Church gave up their summers to go to Zambia where they joined a group traveling by motorbike (the only way to get there) and went to a village housing aids orphans. Ben Helms and Kelli Livingston were with a group arriving in Zambia in June and Peter Cross joined another group arriving in July. Both groups were responsible for digging a fresh water well for the aids orphans' village as well as reaching out to the children and local villagers through puppet ministry, games, music and the Jesus film. The Teen Mission Board reported that throughout the summer of 2005 over 2500 Zambians made a profession for Christ. All three of the Grace teen missionaries were exposed to very difficult field conditions and all three came back stating that their lives had been forever changed by the experience.
